What do YOU Want From Your Relationship?

Published by accidentaltherapist at 1:49 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

Do you believe that you can and will change your partner?  Or that your partner should be able to know what you want or don’t want…without you telling them?  Or that it is your partner’s job to make you happy? These are common mistakes that people often make in relationships; and many times the reasons why relationships fail.  Without open and truthful communication, a relationship cannot grow.  Each partner must be on the same page with knowing what the other needs and wants from the relationship. But how do you get the lines of communication open?  By knowing what you want from the relationship and asking for it clearly.  And loving and trusting yourself enough to be able to accept either a “YES” or a “NO” from your partner. Your partner is there with you to grow and share life’s journeys with you.  He/she can’t do it for you or you for him/her.  If you try to change someone else to fill your own needs, you will find that that person will be become resentful towards you and the relationship will not grow healthy.  Effective communication is a skill that we must practice.  So take a moment to write down what you want from your relationship.  And practice saying it clearly.  After all, practice makes perfect!
